At Kidaroo Childcare we have started to introduce Yoga for children at the beginning and end of every session.
Children’s yoga can be great fun as well as being tremendously advantageous to a child’s health and well-being. Stretching will help children become more flexible as well as strengthening their arms and legs. Doing yoga helps children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and build up an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them.
Yoga brings that stunning inner light that all children have to the surface. Yoga will also improve a child’s breathing and circulation. Regular yoga practice for children will make them calmer, more relaxed and much happier.
Today we have been practicing the yoga pose
Sunrise/Sunset, Part 1
In yoga, we move as we breathe. For example, we stretch on the inhale and relax on the exhale. The Sunrise/Sunset pose is a good all-over warm-up for any activity. 1. Stand up tall. Take three to five deep breaths. 2. On the next inhale, lift your arms above your head. Press your legs and feet down toward the ground and stretch your spine and waist toward the sky.
